From pinch pots to coils to slabs, there is so much to learn how to make with clay! In this introduction to ceramics class, young students learn the fun of working with clay and are exposed to a variety of techniques. Students can repeat the class as new projects will be taught!

Come learn to hand build with us! Students will be exposed to a variety of processes such as pinch pots, coils, and slabs to create their own hand built ceramic artwork. Glazing will be explained, as well as some other surface treatments.

This course is designed for intermediate students who have a solid foundation in ceramics and are looking to push their skills further. Projects can include lidded jars, altered forms, the incorporation of handbuilding in combination with the wheel, and more. Please ensure you have the necessary skills before enrolling.

Previous wheel throwing students can come have access to the Clay Studio and use the facility to create their own pottery pieces. Students will have access to the wheels and other tools in the studio, as well as the kiln to fire their pieces alongside other classes’ work. This class is not for production making and will not be allowed in the studio due to size limit and kiln capacity. Clay can by purchased with registration, but otherwise student must provide. You will have access to our studio glaze colors (White, Clear, and Black) but other low-fire glazes can be bought by the student.
