The Art Room is a studio offering art instruction to children and adults in downtown Lafayette, California. Our students hail from the Lamorinda area, Walnut Creek, Danville, Berkeley, Concord, Pleasant Hill and other East Bay cities. Students experience and enjoy the creative process while learning the skills needed to create a work of art with pride. Our goal is to achieve a balance between process and product.

Emphasis is on small classes (6-10) with strong individual attention. Whether students work from one of our fabulous projects or from a still life that we’ve set up, the results are amazing. With the guidance provided by skilled art instructors, students gain self-confidence as they explore and develop their artistic ability. At The Art Room every student SHINES! In addition to the wide choice of classes we offer, you can also "Create-a-Class". We will work with you to create a class for your children, or a group of adults. Days and times are flexible. These classes have been especially popular with pre-schoolers and home-schoolers. We provide a positive and nurturing learning experience that encourages our students to use their imagination. At the same time students begin to acquire an art vocabulary and are introduced to well known artists.

The Art Room can provide after school programs at your school site. Our teachers travel to many Bay Area schools to teach in our extensive programs, and we’d love to add your school to our growing list! We also do birthday parties! Contact us for more information about these offerings, which are always customized to your unique requirements.

It’s time for school and registration for fall classes is now open. Our fall schedule offers many of your favorite classes and some exciting new ones. On the registration page, you can fill in and print a form to mail in with your check to ensure your spot in the class or classes of your choice. When you sign up for a 6 week session you can take one additional class free. It’s a great opportunity to try a different class.
