Our Teachers

My name is Carrie Klein and I am the Owner and Director of The ARTROOM. I worked under the nationally renowned educator Bev Bos. I continued my education at CCA (California College of the Arts) and graduated with a BFA in Sculpture and Glass and a minor in Photography. I continued studying at JFK University in their Education and Art Therapy Masters’ program. I became the owner of The ART ROOM five years ago and had a vision to expand with a process-based curriculum. I wanted to foster a passion for art in others and give students the freedom to choose their own direction and focus– developing their own art language. With guidance and experiential based learning, we give students the tools they need to grow as artists. We welcome collaboration and draw influences from our surroundings to ensure that we are continually growing and evolving with the ever-changing world around us!

Hi, I‘m Yana and I’m a full time painter! I received a BFA in Drawing and Painting from OCAD University in Toronto, Canada in 2015. I ground my practice in geometric abstraction. I exhibited in Canada, USA, and the Middle East. I teach painting and drawing classes.

Karin Ferro

The Artroom welcomes it’s newest instructor Karin Ferro!

Karin specializes in Watercolor and loves the medium for its fluidity. The artist helps students learn the basics of watercolor. The how to of application, as well as techniques on blending and layering of color. Karin loves inspiring new students to appreciate painting and the therapeutic quality it provides when the student is engaged and really learns the art of the creative process.

Karin received her degree in Art from the California State Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo. The artist has done numerous commissioned pieces, and up until recently taught art at a private school in Newport Beach. Karin is originally from Walnut Creek and has relocated back to the area in San Ramon. The artist has been teaching adults and children privately for the past fifteen years.

Karin’s goal is to help students achieve their best creative results by mastering the basics of watercolor and thereby gaining confidence. It brings the artist great joy to see her students open up to a love for watercolor painting!
